A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) is a site-specific, written, comprehensive document developed to identify potential sources of pollution due to stormwater. The document is provided as awareness in keeping construction-related pollutants from contaminating nearby waterways.
The SWPPP BMPs (Best Management Practices) provide schedules of activities, prohibitions of practices, maintenance procedures, structural controls, local ordinances, and other management practices to prevent or reduce the discharge of pollutants. Additionally, BMPs include treatment requirements, operating procedures, and practices to control site runoff, spills or leaks, sludge or waste disposal, or drainage from raw material storage areas. The goal is to prevent chemicals, sediment, and debris from traveling through rainwater into our rivers, lakes, and coastal waters.
